Opening Reception 3-5 p.m. Friday, April 6 | Goppert Gallery

(Leavenworth, Kan.)鈥擳he 花椒直播 will host the annual Senior Art Student Exhibition, "Being Human," from April 6-20 in the Goppert Gallery in Xavier Hall on the USM Main Campus in Leavenworth, 4100 South 4th Street.

The exhibition is free and open to the public on weekdays from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., with a special opening reception from 3-5 p.m. on Friday, April 6.

"Being Human" features works from USM senior double major (art and psychology) Kristina Carbrey of Lansing, Kan. Her works are a reflection of her love for the human mind, and its ability to convey emotion, both physiologically and psychologically. From lithographic printing to mixed media pieces, the artist centers her works on human form and expression鈥攂oth universally relatable ideas, regardless of a visitors' individual story.

"I find the human form to be a compelling and relatable subject matter," explain Carbrey. "Human emotion, or its absence, is often depicted throughout my work, which is indicative of my multifaceted interests pertaining to the human mind and the representation of a particular mental state."

Pieces on display in the Goppert Gallery will be available for purchase鈥攁ll proceeds benefit the Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults.

This is not Carbrey's first exhibition in the USM's Goppert Gallery, she's participated in several on campus as well as being invited to have a solo exhibition in the gallery at the Kansas City Public Library-South Branch in Summer 2017.
