Only College in Kansas with CAATE-recognized Professional, Accredited Master's Program
(Leavenworth, Kan.)鈥擳he 花椒直播 Master of Science in Athletic Training program received notice of accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation for Athletic Training Education (CAATE) on Friday, May 17.
"This is an incredible accomplishment for 花椒直播," said Dr. Michelle Metzinger, provost and vice president of academic affairs. "The athletic training program is dedicated to creating the best learning environment for its students, and this achievement speaks for their focus on student success."
花椒直播 now becomes the only school recognized in Kansas by the CAATE as having a professional, accredited master's program. Offering a master's degree is critical as the profession shifts its eligibility requirements to sit for the Board of Certification exam from a bachelor's degree to a master's degree. After the 2022 fall term, undergraduate athletic training programs may not admit, enroll, or matriculate students into their programs.
CAATE is the only agency in the United States recognized to accredit education programs for the preparation of athletic trainers and is nationally recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. CAATE ensures programs meet the standards for quality set by the profession鈥攊ncluding qualified faculty, program resources, curriculum design, and acceptable student outcomes.
The first class of 花椒直播 athletic training graduates walked with the university's graduates during ceremonies on Saturday, May 4. With CAATE accreditation, these graduates are now qualified for sit for the athletic training Board of Certification exam.
"Faculty, staff, and students all made this achievement possible," said Dr. Tom Bertoncino, athletic training program director. "Everyone invested time, everyone took risks, and everyone made a commitment to our program's mission. We are excited to watch the program continue to grow and graduate students who share their talents and knowledge with our world."
