(Leavenworth, Kan.)— The »¨½·Ö±²¥ named Dennis Muraski as its new head coach for the eSports program, which enters its second year at the institution.

Muraski comes to USM after spending time at the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas. He graduated from UNT in May 2019 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Integrative Studies in History, Philosophy and Technical Communication.

"Community involvement is one of the biggest keys to success," Muraski said. "I intend to hold some community events focused around esports toward the middle of the Fall semester. I have also created a Discord server for our players and the entire gaming community at USM to interact and bond over a mutual love of esports.

"I'm excited to bring my knowledge of esports to the »¨½·Ö±²¥ and work with the students here to build successful teams and a thriving gaming community."

USM's eSports program competes in several games sponsored by the National Association of Collegiate eSports (NACE), which is affiliated with the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics. Muraski plans for the teams to compete in Apex Legends, League of Legends, Fortnite, Magic the Gathering: Arena, Teamfight Tactics and Smite.

Muraski also plans to make involvement with the esports team more extensive.

"There is space for students in multiple academic disciplines to benefit from involvement in esports," Muraski said. "Whether that's graphic design students helping with content or a journalism student covering the teams for the paper. I'm going to work towards building a program where any student who wants to be involved can be and will gain resume-worthy experience from that involvement."
