(Leavenworth, Kan.)—»¨½·Ö±²¥ Vice President for Athletics Rob Miller has announced the hiring of John Dial as the new head men's lacrosse coach.

Dial comes from Madonna University after serving as a men's lacrosse volunteer assistant during the 2019 season. While coaching for the Crusaders, Dial helped the program earn its first-ever outright No. 1 NAIA national ranking.

Prior to Madonna University, Dial served as a graduate assistant coach for the Ottawa University men's lacrosse program, a graduate assistant coach for the Ottawa University women's lacrosse program, and a graduate assistant for sports administration at Ottawa University.

During the Ottawa University men's lacrosse 2016-17 season, Dial served as the team's offensive coordinator as a graduate assistant coach. The team made a second straight playoff appearance in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament in its second year of competition. Dial coach eight all-KCAC players and two NAIA All-Americans.

During the Ottawa University women's lacrosse 2016-17 season, Dial served as a graduate assistant coach. Dial helped the team capture its first KCAC Tournament Championship and their first NAIA National Tournament appearance in the program's second year of competition. He coached six all-KCAC players.

During the Ottawa University men's lacrosse team's inaugural season in 2015-16, Dial served as a student assistant coach and was the team's defensive coordinator. He helped lead the team to the KCAC Tournament championship game where it fell to NAIA national champion runner-up Missouri Valley College. Dial coached eight all-KCAC players and two NAIA All-Americans.

During the Ottawa University women's lacrosse team's inaugural season, 2015-16, Dial served as a volunteer assistant coach. He coached five all-KCAC players and two NAIA Academic All-Americans. He helped the team capture a KCAC regular season championship and helped lead the team to the KCAC Tournament championship game where it fell to Benedictine College.

Before coming to OU, Dial spent one season at the University of Kansas and one season at the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga as a member of their men's lacrosse teams. 

While at the University of Kansas, Dial served as a founding coach for the Lawrence All-City Lacrosse Club high school team and also served on the Board of Directors for the organization. In the program's inaugural season, Dial helped lead the team to a Junior Varsity LAKC consolation championship game where it fell to Mill Valley.

While at UT-Chattanooga, he helped the team as a player to a 2011 NCLL Deep South Conference Fall Brawl Championship, a 2011 Dalton Shootout Championship, a 2012 NCLL Deep South Conference Regular Season Championship, and a 2012 NCLL Deep South Conference Tournament Championship. Dial also helped UT-Chattanooga to a 2012 NCLL D2 Elite Eight appearance at the national tournament.
