(Leavenworth, Kan.)鈥擬ore than 1,200 of America's best and brightest college students participated virtually in the Phi Beta Lambda National Leadership Experience held June 24-27. Participants from across the U.S. attended the conference to enhance their business skills, expand their networks, and participate in 60 business and business-related competitive events.

花椒直播 student W. Clayton Steward received national recognition, winning first place in the Impromptu Speaking competition. Students were asked to define moral and ethical leadership and apply those concepts to their futures. Steward had one hour to prepare his remarks and present.

Steward also placed third in the Emerging Issues Speech event with a recorded speech on media bias.

"I was so shocked when the results came out for the competitive events, but it reminded me how thankful I am for the advisors, professors, and other faculty that make PBL at USM possible," Steward said. "I would encourage any student at USM to look into joining us for an awesome year, where hopefully we will see more competitors standing on stage from USM."

Steward is a junior majoring in digital communications with a minor in pastoral ministry. He has served as the 花椒直播 PBL president since 2019 and will also serve as the Kansas State PBL vice president during the 2020-21 academic year. Steward is a graduate of Montrose High School in Missouri.

For many students, the national PBL competitions are capstone activities for their academic careers. The leadership conference also offered interactive workshops, an information-packed exhibit hall, and keynote addresses covering a broad range of business topics.
