(Leavenworth, Kan.)—»¨½·Ö±²¥ Vice President of Athletics Rob Miller has announced the hiring of Chris Beall as the first head coach of the USM bowling programs. The men's and women's teams will begin competition during the 2021-22 academic year.

"We are glad to have Chris leading our new bowling program," Miller said. "His ability to build positive program culture while recruiting new student-athletes will add to our success."

Beall brings close to 25 years of bowling experience. He has been in the college coaching landscape for 15 years, most recently serving as an assistant baseball coach and primary recruiting coordinator at Allen Community College in Iola, Kansas.

Prior to ACC, Beall coached baseball at Marshalltown Community College in Marshalltown, Iowa. During his coaching tenure, Beall has had numerous academic All-Region and All-American student-athletes. He is known for his recruiting efforts and leaving programs with better records than when he started.

A native of Marshalltown, Beall attended MCC to begin his playing career. After two years at MCC, Beall transferred and finished out his playing days at Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa. While at Simpson, the Storm qualified for the 2004 regional baseball tournament.

The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics has 46 men's bowling teams and 46 women's teams, including fellow Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference members Kansas Wesleyan University and Ottawa University.

Bowling is a growing sport nationally with around 54,000 high school bowlers, including programs in about 90 Kansas high schools.
