(Leavenworth, Kan.)鈥擳he 花椒直播 Division of Nursing has received a $197,669 grant for the 2022 fiscal year from the Kansas Board of Regents. The Kansas Nursing Initiative grant will support USM in a variety of areas, including student support services, faculty development, and laboratory supplies.
The Kansas Nursing Initiative was developed to address the growing nursing shortage in the state by providing needed resources to nursing education programs, enabling them to increase their capacity to instruct additional nursing students. The grant funds support faculty and nursing lab supplies with the goal of improving program quality and student success.
"The 花椒直播 has become a regional leader in nursing education by developing well-regarded programs that enable graduates to excel at their licensing exams and be confident practitioners," said Michelle Birdashaw, assistant professor and division chair of nursing. "The Kansas Nursing Initiative will help USM build on our tradition of excellence and will position the nursing program to grow and sustain itself well into the future."
A majority of the grant funds will help cover Assessment Technologies Institute services for students in the traditional and accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing programs. The ATI services will help students better prepare for the Next Generation NCLEX (NGN) exam.
To be eligible for the grant, programs must:
- Be approved by the Kansas Board of Nursing and nationally accredited
- Have the most recent three-year average National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) scores be at or above the three-year national average
- Documented articulation of one of the following: Registered Nurse to Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Bachelor of Science in Nursing to Master of Science in Nursing, or Master of Science in Nursing to Doctor of Nursing Practice.
