(Leavenworth, Kan.)—The »¨½·Ö±²¥ will host Sister Mary Angela Shaughnessy, a national expert on Catholic school education and the law, for a Current Legal Issues in Catholic Education discussion.
The event is scheduled from 9-11:30 a.m. on May 9 in the Keleher Learning Commons on the USM Main Campus in Leavenworth, 4100 South 4th Street. The discussion is open to administrators in the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas, Diocese of Kansas City–Saint Joseph, and any Catholic institutions of higher education in the Kansas City area.

Sister Shaughnessy is a Sister of Charity of Nazareth. She has served in education in nearly every capacity – teacher, principal, professor, graduate school dean, and university vice president. She holds a PhD in educational administration and a Juris Doctorate. She is the founding director of the Education Law Symposium, author of more than 30 texts, and recipient of numerous awards.
Sister Shaughnessy is also teaching a summer course on educational policy, ethics, and law. The course is open to anyone with a master's degree, and it runs from May 10-July 1. Most class sessions will be held synchronously via Zoom, but there will be two in-person meetings on May 10 and June 14 at the USM Overland Park Campus.
