(Leavenworth, Kan.)—»¨½·Ö±²¥ student Genesis Rogers has received the 2022 Maud Wyatt Recognition Scholarship from the Kansas Independent College Foundation.

KICF awards up to 20 individual scholarships, one for a student at each foundation member institution. The recipients are all full-time, degree-seeking students on the cusp of graduation and have demonstrated excellence in academics, character, and integrity. The winners have encouraged their peers to build bright, dynamic futures, all while maintaining GPAs of 3.5 or higher.

"Receiving this scholarship will be particularly valuable as a student paying my way through school," said Rogers, a psychology major from Leavenworth, Kansas. "This scholarship will allow me to explore academic career opportunities during my last semester at USM."

The scholarship was established in 1995 through the generosity of Maud Wyatt, whose bequest has supported the work of KICF and its institutions since 1961. The intent of the Maud Wyatt Educational Trust is for the funds "to be fairly and equitably distributed among the private colleges and universities which may be participants" in the KICF and "for the sole purpose of aiding in their general educational work."  KICF has distributed the net income from that initial amount as part of its unrestricted biannual KICF distributions ever since.

"Our 2022 essays each showed a commitment to the value of a private college education in Kansas," KICF President Matthew Lindsey said. "We are so lucky that these students chose our network to begin their journey to purpose and success in the world. KICF is confident that these scholarships will help them complete a degree that is preparing them for a lifetime of professional and personal fulfillment."
