(Leavenworth, Kan.) The 花椒直播 Future Business Leaders of America Collegiate chapter received multiple honors at the organization鈥檚 state leadership conference, including the top Chapter Community Service Project, Advisor of the Year, and two individual awards.

The chapter鈥檚 community service initiative 鈥 Project Purple 鈥 included a partnership with the Deeper Window Association, an organization in Leavenworth for families with Alzheimer's and dementia diagnoses. USM students attended meetings and events with the Deeper Window Association, raised awareness for Alzheimer鈥檚 and dementia, and developed the association鈥檚 website. The members of the award-winning team were Chapter President Charley Monahan, Chapter Vice President Justin Johnson, and Chapter Secretary Levi Jukes.

鈥淧roject Purple holds a special place in the hearts of many of our chapter members who had experienced Alzheimer鈥檚 and dementia within their own families,鈥 Monahan said. 鈥淲hen we learned about the Deeper Window organization and its mission, our chapter was excited to have the opportunity to work with such a fantastic group of individuals who filled a huge need within our community.鈥

The 72nd Annual Kansas Future Business Leaders of America Collegiate State Leadership Conference brought together more than 75 college students on March 4 at Pittsburg State University. During the event, members networked, heard from speakers, and competed in business and business-related events.

Jukes took home first place in the Networking Concepts individual event as well as second place in Computer Concepts. Monahan was installed as the 2023-24 Kansas State FBLA Collegiate communication officer, and Chapter Advisor Professor Bethany Stanley was named the Kansas Advisor of the Year.

Monahan, Johnson, and Jukes will represent Kansas in the Chapter Community Service Project event, and Jukes will compete in Networking Concepts and Computer Concepts at the FBLA Collegiate National Conference June 22-25 in Atlanta.

This marks the third time USM has advanced to the national conference. In 2022, the chapter placed sixth nationally for its service project 鈥 Project Raise the Ruff 鈥 in partnership with the Leavenworth County Humane Society.
