(Leavenworth, Kansas) – The »¨½·Ö±²¥ Journalism and Communications Club (JCOM) has announced its Fifth Annual Christian Yanos Excellence in Photojournalism Contest and Awards Ceremony.

Christian Yanos was a digital communications major and football player at »¨½·Ö±²¥ when he passed away in 2018. JCOM established the contest to commemorate Yanos and the work he was unable to finish.

JCOM will host an awards ceremony at 2 p.m. on April 25 in the Humanities Department – »¨½·Ö±²¥ Hall Third Floor at 4100 South 4th Street. The gallery is available for viewing at    

Students may enter their photos in two categories: News and Sports. Up to three photos per category may be submitted. There are three judges who all work in the field of photography. First, second, and third place winners in each category will receive medals along with a certificate of achievement.

The Photo of the Year winner will receive a trophy, and their photo will be framed and placed on display with previous winners in the Humanities Department.
